Temporary Battery Recycling Initiative Scheduled for September

Attention Willowbay residents! We are excited to announce a special temporary battery recycling measure throughout September. This initiative aims to provide a convenient and responsible way to dispose of used batteries, helping to prevent environmental contamination and promote sustainability in our community.

Event Details:

• Duration: September 1st to September 30th, 2025
• Drop-off Locations:
• Willowbay Recycling Center: 221 Main Street (across from the Fire Department)
• Participating local businesses (visit our website for a complete list)

Acceptable Items:

• Alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V)
• Rechargeable batteries (lithium-ion, nickel-cadmium)

Why Recycle Batteries? Used batteries can contain harmful chemicals that pose risks to our environment and health if not disposed of properly. By participating, you help keep these harmful substances out of landfills and contribute to a cleaner, safer Willowbay.

How to Participate:

• Bring your used batteries to one of the designated drop-off locations.
• Ensure batteries are sealed in a clear plastic bag or their original packaging before drop-off.
